The Balto® Bone is the solution for dogs with limited mobility due to fractures and severe injuries of the radius, ulna, and carpal (wrist) joint in the front legs. This splinting and casting alternative, made with non-neoprene material, provides stability and support to your dog's front leg or legs (can be placed on both legs simultaneously) without severely compromising natural movement. This fracture brace is an excellent option for dogs in need of additional support while maintaining an active lifestyle during recovery.
Brace Applications:
Post-casting removal for continued stability
Alternative to traditional splints or casts
Post-surgical support
Acute pain management
Complementary treatment option to physical therapy – can be used in combination with hydrotherapy and acupuncture
IV catheter stabilization and protection in clinic for the cephalic vein
Brace Features:
Three rigid airplane aluminum splints; two splints that can be freely placed with durable Velcro to provide different positions and levels of stability, and a third fixed to the back of the brace.
Adjustable upper and lower padding straps can be lengthened or shortened on the leg to ensure an excellent fit
All Balto® braces are made from high-quality materials, not neoprene, which is known to: collect bacteria, provide inadequate support, and wear down quickly. A variety of sizes ensure a secure fit. No pinching straps.
Recommended for all ages unless otherwise advised by veterinarians. Apply brace for balanced increments of time, if appropriate, for pets under the age of 2 to prevent possible growth disturbances.
Used to maximize stability in the carpal area and increase blood flow.
Used as an alternative to common splints and casts (used to treat fractures) for the radius, ulna, and carpus.

Consists of two aluminum (slightly adjustable) splints - medial and lateral.
Consists of three aluminum (slightly adjustable) splints - medial, lateral, and posterior.

My dog has carpal hyperextension, which brace do I choose?
We have two great options that can support carpal hyperextension. For mild cases refer to the Splint brace. For more severe cases refer to the Bone brace.
How does the Bone differ from the Joint Brace?
The Bone is a fracture Brace that has three splints; it is the solution for dogs with limited mobility of the radius, ulna, or carpus. The Joint brace for carpal compression has two splints, it is the solution for dog’s suffering wrist injuries/soreness.
Used to maximize stability in the carpal area and increase blood flow.
Used as an alternative to common splints and casts (used to treat fractures) for the radius, ulna, and carpus.

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:
Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro® frequently to prevent compaction.
Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!

baby girl italian greyhound fracture recovery Violet
I am so grateful for this brace. My beloved italian greyhound went through several surgeries for fracture break that is taking over 6 months to heal. The brace is so comfortable and supportive to her she falls asleep with it on. i wish i would have purchased this instead of almost 6 months of those awful weekly expensive splint changes at the vet that almost ruined her leg to the point of amputation. So thank you Balto for this continued support to her healing process.

Life saver
My 12 yr old dog had a swollen wrist and was not walking well. I didn’t feel he’d survive surgery and consulted the vet after purchasing the fracture brace. He loved the brace. It allowed him to bear weight with stabilizing his wrist. If this was a mild sprain or mild fracture I feel like a cast the brace was amazing. ( sadly X-rays showed osteosarcoma, the brace with the center strap not strapped allowed for walking without pressure on his growing tumor- he was able to get around for a while and longer than without it)

Superior Recovery
I used this on my dog post injury for several months and could not have been happier with the outcome. It was so much easier for her to get around with this vs a large cast. It was also nice to be able to use this as a brace once the fracture was healed to help the soft tissue healing. You would never know she had an issue now!
