The Balto® Jump stifle knee brace is carefully designed to stabilize your dog's post-traumatic or acquired knee joint deficiency. The Balto® Jump is designed to support one of the most common injuries in canines, Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) trauma. Affecting millions of patients annually, CCL injuries include: full or partial tearing of the ligament, Luxation of the patella, and Knee joint conditions such as arthritis, arthrosis and varus/valgus instability. This canine knee joint brace is a great solution for dogs suffering from limited mobility following injuries to the CCL joint. This breathable compression wrap, made with non-neoprene material, provides stability and support to your dog's rear legs without compromising natural movement. This knee brace is an excellent option for dogs in need of additional support while maintaining an active lifestyle.

Brace Applications:
  • CCL tears (partial and full)
    • Partial CCL tears can take about 6 months to stabilize, and up to a year to form mature scar tissue to stabilize the knee to regular function.
    • Full CCL tears, depending on severity, can take up to a year to stabilize and an additional year to form mature scar tissue that can stabilize the knee to regular function.
  • Post-surgical support (for surgeries such as TPLO, TTA, ELSS, and MPL)
  • Structural support to injured or affected limbs.
  • Chronic canine knee pain management
  • Complementary treatment option to physical therapy – can be used in combination with hydrotherapy and acupuncture
  • Special circumstances or conservative treatment preference; bracing can be used as an alternative to surgery for ineligible surgical candidates
  • This brace can be used on healthy joints, muscles and ligaments to prevent injury and provide structural support
Brace Features:
  • Two pockets which contain angled airplane aluminum splints (medial and lateral) that help restrict the lateral movement (also referred to as a drawer movement) of the knee when necessary.
  • Abdominal band to ensure the brace is secured around the dog’s hind end.
  • A third, additional stabilization strap is provided for more active animals.
  • The brace can also be used without splints for conditions such as arthritis and arthrosis.
    • Compression helps increase blood flow in the affected area, which helps reduce stiffness, pain, and inflammation
  • Adjustable upper and lower padding straps can be lengthened or shortened on the leg to ensure an excellent fit

Using the Balto® Jump on both the left and right knees can also help with cases related to:

  • Senior dogs as a result of general degenerative process
  • Overweight dogs dealing with high pressure on their good leg
  • Active dogs with an important compensation behavior

Comes in sizes xx-small through x-large, for a left or right orientation. Please note that the xx-small size can only be worn in female orientation (in small breeds this is okay for most males) and is unable to be connected to a second knee brace to provide bilateral support. To find the best size for your pet, visit the sizing chart here.

Handwashable
Vet approved and preferred
Non-neoprene

All Balto® braces are made from high-quality materials, not neoprene, which is known to: collect bacteria, provide inadequate support, and wear down quickly. A variety of sizes ensure a secure fit. No pinching straps.

Recommended for all ages unless otherwise advised by veterinarians. Apply brace for balanced increments of time, if appropriate, for pets under the age of 2 to prevent possible growth disturbances.

  • Is the Left or Right orientation from my point of view, or my dog’s?
    • The orientation is your dog’s point of view, you can also distinguish this by standing behind them. For example, “right” is your dog’s right leg just as your (human) “right” leg is your right leg.
  • Does it come with straps?
    • Yes! All knee braces come with anchor kits, which make up all the straps needed to assemble the brace.
  • Do the straps fit the same way for females and males?
    • No, you will want to change the way the strap wraps under the body for the brace depending on your pet’s sex. Watch our video to see the best application for females or males.
  • How do I purchase a knee brace for both knees?
    • To purchase a bilateral knee brace, shop Bundles. Bracing both knees is an excellent way to support a second injured knee, or to support the healthy one that is bearing additional stress while the injured knee heals.
  • My dog does not wear collars, how do I attach the back strap?
    • The back strap can attach to either a body/ torso harness or a collar. For the best support, getting a collar or harness is advised. There are several more affordable options on online stores like Amazon or your local store that carries pet supplies.
  • I need to replace the straps, can I purchase more?
    • Absolutely! Visit Brace Parts to purchase separate anchor kits for the brace. Whether your pet chewed on the straps, they were lost, or you accidentally cut too short, spare parts are available for replacement on most braces.

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:

  1. Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro® frequently to prevent compaction.
  2. Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
  3. By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
  4. Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
  5. Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!

Works Great

Our 9 year old 120 lb Newfie, Olive, tore her crucia ligament. She could not put any weight on the leg until we got this brace. It was incredibly difficult to move her in and out of the house before the brace. With the brace on she was able to use her leg to balance and made life so much more easy. She is having surgery today, and we look forward to having the brace to help keep the knee stable when taking her out to the bathroom until it heals a bit.

Only brace that has helped my dog

We have a very large cane corso. We tried several knee braces for her torn acl and none fit her body type without constantly slipping off. This brace fits the knee well, stays well around her tummy and helped her knee pain tremendously. We use the brace now for her injury and will use it after surgery as well.

Helping our pup get another chance

My pup is only 3 and was never really properly diagnosed even after several scans and tests. Just recently he has had severe knee dislocation and it hinders his play time and just general day to day activities. Balto knee brace is giving him the support he needs to be able to live his happy life when we though he would not had the chance to do so.

My 7 year old akita hurt his leg playing with the younger pups. We are doing double braces to help with the strain on the good knee. He is very tolerate of me putting it on. The brace doesn't bother him at all. I would recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to surgery
