The Balto® Joint Dog Wrist Brace is a veterinarian-approved solution designed to help dogs with wrist (carpal) joint injuries, soreness, or instability. Whether your pup is recovering from a sprain, strain, or soft tissue injury, or simply needs extra support due to arthritis or chronic pain, this brace provides stability while still allowing your dog to move naturally and comfortably. It’s especially helpful for senior dogs who want to stay active but need additional joint support.

Made with breathable, non-neoprene material, the Balto® Joint offers gentle compression to increase blood flow, reduce stiffness, and ease inflammation in the wrist joint. The brace comes with two lightweight aluminum splints that can be adjusted for a custom fit, or removed when only light compression is needed, such as in cases of arthritis. With adjustable straps and padded extensions, it’s easy to ensure a secure, comfortable fit for your dog.

Why pet parents choose the Balto® Joint:
  • Supports recovery from wrist injuries like sprains, strains, and soft tissue damage
  • Helps manage chronic soreness and arthritis, reducing pain and stiffness
  • Customizable support with removable aluminum splints for different conditions
  • Comfortable, washable design with adjustable straps for a tailored fit
  • Protects wounds and bandages, preventing licking, biting, or friction

The Balto® Joint can also be used on healthy dogs as a preventive support, helping protect active or working dogs from injury. Available in X-Small through X-Large sizes, this brace is an excellent option for pets of many breeds and sizes, giving them the comfort and stability they need to stay active and happy.

  • Where should the splints be positioned?
    • Ideally both splints are positioned behind the foot to stabilize the carpal joint.
  • My dog's measurements are in between sizes, which do I select?
    • When in between sizes, we recommend sizing down.
  • My dog has carpal hyperextension, will this help?
    • No, the carpal compression band will only aid with inflammation. For mild cases of hyperextension, take a look at the Splint Laxity Brace. For severe cases of hyperextension take a look at the Bone Fracture Brace.

  • Allow up to two weeks for your pet to fully accept the brace
  • Wear the brace for 30 minutes a day, increasing 30 minutes each day after, for up to 12 hours
  • Consult your veterinarian for specific instructions on when to wear your brace
  • Remove the brace when your animal sleeps at night
  • Inspect your pet for signs of skin irritation. If any are present, contact your veterinarian
  • In addition to wiping the brace clean, keep skin and fur that comes into contact with the brace clean
  • Inspect your brace regularly for any damage

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:

  1. Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro® frequently to prevent compaction.
  2. Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
  3. By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
  4. Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
  5. Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!

Good Product, silly price point.

Fundamentally this is a decent product which has helped our Husky, who has chronic issues with mobility due to previous fractures and injuries. It gives her more confidence in putting weight on her bad leg, and we have seen a noted improvement in her front weight distribution and gait. However, to pay $100 for something so small, so basic in materials, is where this loses at least one star in the rating. It in no way is reflective of the cost, despite its functionality. Half the price would still be too expensive, but I don’t put a price on the wellbeing of my animal, so one can justify the cost when a product works. Overall this product is effective, but you’ll have to eat the pricepoint.
