The Balto® Pull addresses neurological disorders that cause severe proprioceptive deficits. This canine Achilles tendon brace is a great solution for dogs suffering from limited mobility following injuries to the hock/Achilles tendon. This breathable anchor strap, made with non-neoprene material, provides stability and support to your dog's rear legs without compromising natural movement. This paw brace is an excellent option for dogs in need of additional support while maintaining an active lifestyle.

Brace Applications:
  • Dorsiflexion - when the dog is unable to sense the position of the limb on the ground and tends to stand on the top of its paw
  • Damage to the sciatic nerve because of a fracture of the pelvis or femur; in order to ensure that the neurological problem does not lead to orthopedic damage due to shortening of the flexor tendons of the paw.
  • Support neurological complications that affect the paw: Degenerative myelopathy (DM), Cervical Vertebral Instability (CVI), Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (FCE), Invertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
  • Commonly used in combination with the Balto Hock Brace for hock-to-paw support, actin to pull the canine toe up.
Brace Features:
  • Two toe bands provided with brace: one soft fitting for long-term and indoor use, and a harder fitting ideal for the outdoors and rough terrain.
  • Adjustable upper straps can be adjusted on the leg to ensure an excellent fit

Comes in sizes xx-small through large. To find the best size for your pet, visit the sizing chart here.

Non-neoprene

All Balto® braces are made from high-quality materials, not neoprene, which is known to: collect bacteria, provide inadequate support, and wear down quickly. A variety of sizes ensure a secure fit. No pinching straps.

Recommended for all ages unless otherwise advised by veterinarians. Apply brace for balanced increments of time, if appropriate, for pets under the age of 2 to prevent possible growth disturbances.

How to Apply Brace

Step 1
Adjust the length of the elastic strap as needed. Tie a knot in the top of the elastic strap once it is at an appropriate length (Fig. 1 - 3).

Step 2

Step 3
Secure the Velcro strap above the dog's hock (tarsus). Secure the elastic strap underneath the dog's foot and position the padded portion of the elastic strap between the two, middle phalanges (Fig. 5 & 6).

  • How tight should the toe band be?
    • The toe band should be snug enough to pull the toes up when worn. The best method is to apply the brace at its loosest setting first, then to adjust the strap as needed. Do not pull too tight as this can cause discomfort.
  • Why did I receive two toe bands?
    • The band with a softer fabric casing is to be used indoors or for more sensitive paws. The one with plastic casing is an excellent option for outdoor use. These can be easily swapped out by lifting the velcro tab at the front of the brace.
  • Can this be paired with another brace for hyperextension hock support?
    • Absolutely! This brace is commonly paired with the Hock brace to provide support to weak hocks plus supporting proper paw placement. Shop our Bundles to purchase the two together.

  • Allow up to two weeks for your pet to fully accept the brace
  • Wear the brace for 30 minutes a day, increasing 30 minutes each day after, for up to 12 hours
  • Consult your veterinarian for specific instructions on when to wear your brace
  • Remove the brace when your animal sleeps at night
  • Inspect your pet for signs of skin irritation. If any are present, contact your veterinarian
  • In addition to wiping the brace clean, keep skin and fur that comes into contact with the brace clean
  • Inspect your brace regularly for any damage

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:

  1. Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro® frequently to prevent compaction.
  2. Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
  3. By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
  4. Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
  5. Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!

Has injured my pet in between toes

Although this helped with my pets mobility it is a dangerous design, it created lacerations in between my dogs paw pads where loop makes contact. Disappointed, I was trying to help an aging pet and this brace caused him further injury and pain.

Works great

My 7 year old Dane has been knuckling for 4 months. Found these braces and decided to give them a try. They worked great! He wasn’t uncomfortable or trying to take them off either. He’s walking around more now. Definitely give these a try if your dog is knuckling

Our prayers ANSWERED!!

My nearly 8 yr old Great Dane suffered FCE at random healthy age of 5. He couldn’t walk for nearly a month and with rehab and love he’s walking and moving well now. He has a lot of muscle wasting and stands on his paw often or drags it. I looked into braces last year with many failed experiences with other expensive braces. A new vet introduced me to this one and while nervous, I couldn’t be more grateful for this purchase!!! My baby boy is walking so happily allowing us to restrengthen his leg on walks. Without any paw drag or buckling!! The design seemed too simple to be as effective as it is but WOW! I’m so happy I nearly cried watching him wear it on our first walk after receiving.

If you have any doubts, please know you’re making the absolute best purchase to aid with any issues your pup may have causing paw drag issues!! THANK YOU BALTO!!!!! <3

A pawsitive change

I recently purchased the Balto Pull – Brace for Hyperflexion Phalanges for my dog, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My furry friend was experiencing difficulty walking due to hyperflexion phalanges, but this brace has been a game-changer.

I’m impressed by the design and build quality of the brace. It’s sturdy yet lightweight, providing the perfect balance of support and comfort for my dog. The adjustable straps ensure a snug fit without being too tight, allowing for natural movement without any restriction.
