Up – Rear Harness Support

The Balto^® Up rear harness provides confidence in mobility to pets with the optional assistance from pet parents. This canine rear support brace is a great solution for dogs suffering from limited mobility and motor difficulties following injury, disease, or aging. This breathable support harness, made with non-neoprene material, provides stability and support to your dog's hind end without compromising natural movement. The brace also allows for natural elimination. This hind-end brace is an excellent option for dogs in need of additional support while maintaining an active lifestyle.

• Two short airplane aluminum splints; run laterally alongside the body to provide structural support/ stiffness while mobile

Recommended for all ages unless otherwise advised by veterinarians. Apply brace for balanced increments of time, if appropriate, for pets under the age of 2 to prevent possible growth disturbances.

How to Apply Brace

Step 1

Prepare the brace by opening the straps and removing the adjustable handle (Fig. 1).

Step 2

Open the brace and lay it flat while guiding your dog's legs into the designated openings. Pull the brace up around the dog and secure all the straps by using the buckles (Fig. 2 - 6).

Step 3

Adjust the straps as needed (Fig. 7).

Step 4

Attach the adjustable handle and adjust as needed (Fig. 8 & 9).

• My dog has muscle loss on his back legs, is the Up the best brace?
  • Yes! This brace has two removable splints that run along either side of your pet’s back end. It also comes with adjustable handles which you can use to lift or help walk when needed.
• Can I remove the splints?
  • Yes, the splints can be removed by lifting the velcro tabs. Bracing without the splints allows for more compression, great for supporting conditions such as arthritis. Compression reduces pain and inflammation.
• Can I use this brace to help my dog get in/out of the car?
  • Yes! Use the handles to help lift your dog when needed.
• Can my dog go to the bathroom in this brace?
  • Yes! There are features added to the brace to ensure that they can go to the restroom without having to remove the brace.

REPLACEMENT PART Velcro® Tabs

A clean brace not only prevents infections, irritation, and a stinky smell; but it also allows your brace to last longer. To help support the longevity of your bracing device, here are some of our tips on how to properly clean your orthopedic bracing:

1. Remove as much hair as possible from any Velcro^® frequently to prevent compaction.
2. Use lint roller or lightly adhesive tape to remove hair from the material of the brace.
3. By hand, use warm water and a gentle cleansing soap to remove any stains and odors.
4. Rinse soap thoroughly from the brace
5. Hang to dry. Once the brace is completely dry, it is ready for use!
